Norfolk Fire Department – Fire Cadet Program
Are you between the ages of 14 and 18 and interested in learning about fire safety, teamwork, and serving your community?
Join the Norfolk Fire Department Fire Cadets!
What Fire Cadets Do
- Provide support services during emergencies (non-interior firefighting).
- Attend regular meetings, drills, and practices for hands-on training.
- Learn techniques in safety, firefighting, and teamwork.
- Respond to emergency calls with the department membership.
- Receive department-issued turnout gear and ongoing mentorship.
Schedule
- 1st Monday of each month, 7:00 PM – Monthly meeting with the fire department.
- 2nd, 3rd & 4th Mondays, 6:30 PM – Fire Cadet drills with the department.
Requirements
- Ages 14–18 (boys and girls welcome).
- Must follow the Fire Cadet Standard Operating Procedures (FCSOPs) and NVFD Bylaws.
- Parent/guardian signature and contact info required with application.
- Proof of an annual physical exam (school physicals accepted).
